Epic IT has been delivering managed IT services for Perth schools since 2003. Twenty-two years working with independent schools, Catholic colleges, early learning centres, and registered training organisations across the Perth metropolitan area and regional WA has taught us what actually breaks at 8:25am on a Monday, and what teaching staff need to keep a classroom moving.
School IT in 2026 is no longer a server room and a few projectors. Identity sits in Microsoft 365 for Education alongside SSO into a half-dozen learning platforms. The MIS is Compass, SEQTA, Sentral, or Edval. Devices arrive through Apple School Manager or Microsoft Intune. Child Safe Standards and the WA Reportable Conduct Scheme drive how access and audit have to be configured. NAPLAN Online dictates a non-negotiable assessment window. And every school is fielding pointed cyber questions from its board after the last sector breach. We are one of eight industries Epic IT specialises in, and one of the most operationally seasonal.
Our service agreements scale with enrolment. A 180-student independent primary in Mount Lawley does not need the same engagement as a 1,400-student Catholic college in Como, and neither looks like a 60-staff RTO in West Perth. The brief stays the same across all of them. Keep lessons flowing. Keep student data protected. Keep the bursar’s IT line item predictable.
Seven service streams that map to how a Perth school actually runs in 2026. Each one is delivered by our Perth-based team and scales from a single-campus primary to a multi-site college.
A modern school IT footprint covers seven streams: a responsive helpdesk that understands bell times and exam windows, vCIO and board-ready governance reporting, Essential Eight aligned cyber security with controls that fit Child Safe Standards, Microsoft 365 for Education identity properly separated across staff and students, 1:1 device programmes on Apple School Manager or Intune, MIS integration across Compass, SEQTA, Sentral, or Edval with single sign-on, and AI governance for the Claude or Copilot tools that students and staff are already using. Most Perth schools are strong in two or three of these and quietly exposed in the others.
Yes. Our school clients include AISWA-member independent schools, Catholic Education WA sites that run their own ICT outside the CEWA central stack, early learning centres, and registered training organisations. We do not service Department of Education WA public schools because those sites are covered by the department’s own ICT support arrangement. If you are an independent or Catholic school in the Perth metro area or regional WA, we can help.
Our managed IT agreement for schools covers unlimited remote and onsite helpdesk, Microsoft 365 for Education administration, MIS support across Compass, SEQTA, Sentral, or Edval, identity and access management, device management through Apple School Manager, Jamf, or Microsoft Intune, network and Wi-Fi monitoring, backup and BCDR with tested restores, patching across servers and endpoints, vendor liaison with your printer, projector, and digital signage suppliers, and quarterly vCIO reviews with bursar and principal. Cyber security is a layer on top and covered in our managed security service.
School cyber security is built around the Essential Eight baseline with school-specific overlays. That means MFA on every staff and senior student account, conditional access policies that recognise role and age, EDR on managed endpoints, secure email gateways tuned for the parent-impersonation attacks schools see constantly, DLP on student record systems, and tested backups for the MIS and Microsoft 365. We also run cyber security awareness training with role-specific content for teachers, admin staff, and senior leadership. All of this is configured to work alongside Child Safe Standards and Reportable Conduct Scheme obligations.
Yes. Our engineers work daily with Compass, SEQTA, Sentral, and Edval on the MIS layer, and integrate them with Microsoft 365 identity, classroom learning platforms (Canvas, Moodle, Seesaw, Showbie), library systems, attendance hardware, and parent payment gateways. The work is part day-to-day administration (creating accounts, fixing sync issues, managing rollover at the start of term one) and part integration engineering when the school wants to change platform or add a new system to the stack. We do not own or resell the MIS itself, which means our advice on platform choice is genuinely independent.
Our school agreements are priced per active staff and student account on the MIS, with a separate fixed cost for the underlying infrastructure footprint (servers, network, identity, MIS administration). That scales cleanly from a 150-student independent primary in Mount Lawley to a 1,400-student college in Como, without the surprise add-ons that catch bursars off-guard mid-year. Pricing is locked for the term of the agreement, with a documented true-up at year-end for material enrolment changes.
