Managed AI services are a fully operated, secured, and governed AI platform deployed inside a business, connecting AI tools to the systems where the business actually runs. Rather than buying standalone AI subscriptions and hoping staff use them well, you get a single managed platform that integrates AI with M365, your CRM, your accounting system, and your line-of-business applications, with the governance and security to make that safe.
Epic IT’s Managed AI service runs on Epic AI Platform, our Azure-hosted layer that turns disconnected AI tools into a connected, governed environment. We deploy, integrate, secure, and manage the platform so it works across your systems, not just inside individual apps. Microsoft Copilot, Anthropic’s Claude, ChatGPT Enterprise, and selected open source models on our roadmap all run on the same governed layer. One audit trail, one set of DLP and access controls, one monthly review cycle, regardless of which AI you standardise on. See our ChatGPT vs Copilot vs Claude comparison for how the models stack up in practice.
The real value is cross-platform. An AI agent that can pull invoices from Xero, check contract terms in SharePoint, review pipeline in Salesforce, and prepare a briefing is a workflow that spans four separate permission domains. Managed AI provides the governed platform that makes those connections secure, auditable, and managed. Read more about why M365 governance alone is not enough, or download our cross-platform AI governance white paper for the full framework.
Managed AI builds on AI Governance as the foundation and pairs with AI Agent Development when you need purpose-built agents that go beyond standard integrations. It requires an active Managed IT Services agreement and includes all AI Governance controls as standard. Read about why Epic IT chose Claude over Copilot as the engine behind our managed AI platform. Start with an AI readiness assessment if you want to understand where your business stands before deploying.
Managed AI goes beyond deploying tools. We build, secure, and maintain the connections between your AI platform and your business operations.
We handle full deployment: tenant configuration, user provisioning, security policy enforcement, and integration with your Microsoft 365 environment and line-of-business applications. The platform connects your apps to AI processing through secure integrations, workflow automation, and identity management via Entra ID. Every integration passes a deployment gate and security review before going live.
This is where Managed AI earns its return. We build automation workflows that connect your AI platform to your business processes across Microsoft 365, Xero, Salesforce, HubSpot, and your other line-of-business platforms. Invoice processing that reads, classifies, and routes documents. Client onboarding that creates accounts across systems. Compliance reporting that compiles data from multiple sources into board-ready summaries.
When an AI agent attempts a high-risk action, such as modifying a record in your accounting system, sending an email to a client, or updating an assignment in your service desk, the execution pauses. A human reviewer sees exactly what the agent wants to do, why it wants to do it, and the full context. They approve, deny, or provide feedback before anything executes. This is what makes cross-platform AI agents deployable in businesses that handle sensitive data.
Not every workflow needs AI. If a task is fully deterministic, like syncing records between systems, sending templated notifications, or copying data on a schedule, we use traditional automation tools that are cheaper, faster, and more predictable. AI agents are reserved for work that requires reasoning: triaging requests, interpreting documents, drafting responses, making judgement calls. A disciplined approach uses the right tool for each task.
Every platform gets role-based access, data protection policies, and sensitivity labelling. Your finance team might have different AI access than your marketing team, and the controls reflect that. AI licensing is included in your agreement. We procure and manage licences for Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT Enterprise, and your other approved tools, with monthly usage reporting so your CFO sees exactly where the investment goes. Epic AI Platform runs on Microsoft Azure in Australian regions, and Epic IT is ISO 27001 certified.
The biggest waste of an AI investment is buying tools nobody knows how to use well. We provide structured onboarding covering practical use cases for each team’s role, the governance boundaries your organisation has set, and how to recognise when AI output needs human review. Ongoing adoption support ensures your team keeps getting better, not just busier.
Copilot is a single-app productivity tool. It helps you draft emails faster, summarise meetings, and generate slides. Useful, but limited. It works inside Microsoft apps and stays inside Microsoft apps. It cannot pull data from your CRM, trigger a workflow in your operations system, or reconcile information across platforms.
Managed AI is cross-system intelligence. It connects your AI tools to your business data through secure integrations and automation. The same AI that helps draft an email can also process an invoice from your accounting system, update your CRM, and flag anomalies in your weekly reporting. Copilot is one tool in the toolkit. Managed AI is the platform that makes all your tools work together.
And critically, Managed AI governs the cross-platform connections that Copilot cannot see. When an agent connects to Xero or Salesforce, it needs scoped permissions, a managed identity, and a unified audit trail. M365 governance does not extend there. Managed AI does. Our position has been cited by Forbes in its analysis of Microsoft’s AI strategy, with the piece syndicated to Forbes Argentina and Forbes Japan.
Managed AI services are a fully operated AI platform deployed inside your business, with the governance, security, integrations, and ongoing support to keep it working. Epic IT deploys a connected AI platform across your Microsoft 365 environment and line-of-business systems, builds the cross-platform workflows, manages the security and access controls, and provides monthly reviews to keep the platform improving.
Copilot is a single-app productivity tool that works inside Microsoft apps. Managed AI connects your AI tools to your actual business systems through secure integrations and automation. Invoice processing, cross-platform reporting, client onboarding sequences, and data reconciliation across systems are all possible with Managed AI but not with standalone Copilot licences. Managed AI also governs the cross-platform connections that Copilot cannot see.
Yes. AI Governance is included in every Managed AI engagement as standard. You cannot safely deploy cross-system AI automation without first blocking unsanctioned tools, governing M365 permissions, and putting policies in place. Governance is the foundation, not an optional extra.
Managed AI connects to Microsoft 365, Xero, MYOB, Salesforce, HubSpot, Monday.com, Asana, Employment Hero, Jira, Zendesk, and any platform with an API. Each connection passes a deployment gate and security review. Agent permissions are scoped per system and reviewed quarterly.
Human-in-the-loop means that when an AI agent tries to take a high-risk action, like modifying financial records or sending a client email, the execution pauses and a human must approve before it proceeds. The reviewer sees the exact action, the agent’s reasoning, and the full context. This makes it safe to give AI agents real capabilities without unchecked authority.
Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, and Anthropic’s Claude run on Epic AI Platform under one governance framework. Copilot is deployed across multiple managed clients today. ChatGPT Enterprise is in production with selected clients. Claude is in active internal use and available for client deployment. Open source models are on the roadmap for clients with sovereignty or cost requirements. The same audit trail, DLP policies, and access controls apply regardless of which AI you choose, so you can swap models without rebuilding your governance.
Epic AI Platform runs on Microsoft Azure in Australian regions. Client conversations, configuration data, and audit logs are stored onshore. Model providers may route inference through their own infrastructure, and we work with providers that offer Australian or sovereign deployment options where available, including Microsoft Foundry for Claude. For regulated industries, our governance framework aligns with ISO 42001 and Epic IT is ISO 27001 certified.
