What is a suitable
computer package for me?
A suitable computer package is a computer that will fit your
needs both now and in the long term. It should have the features
that you need and will use, and not ones that will never be
utilized that you have paid for. Epic IT will design and build
a suitable computer package tailored to your needs with room

What features should
i look for in a new computer?
You new computer should have enough processing power to meet
your needs. If you are a beginner needing to access basic
windows packages such as office word and outlook email then
an AMD 2600+ Sempron processor or Intel Celeron (CPU) with
at least 256 Megabytes Memory (RAM) will be sufficient. You
should be looking at a minimum of 40 GIGABYTES hard drive
storage space. The storage space will allow you to store information
such as documents and pictures on your computer. The greater
the storage space, the more you can store.
Should i upgrade
or buy a new computer?
The key to computer upgrades is to upgrade periodically.
If a computer has not been upgraded for a number of years.
You will find that in order to bring the computer up to speed
with latest technology, you might find yourself upgrading
the entire machine that can be time consuming and costly.
The general rule of thumb is that if you have not upgraded
or bought a computer in the last 3 to 4 years, it may be worth
while just purchasing a new computer package. Otherwise you
can just upgrade certain parts of your existing computer such
as faster CPU, more memory, bigger hard drive etc.

When can i start using
my new computer?
Generally if you are a Perth WA customer and order one of
our preset computer packages or something similar you can
be using your computer in as little as 2 to 3 working days.
We will design, build and deliver your computer within 3 days
of order. If you choose a custom computer solution it may
take 3 to 4 days depending on custom part availability, but
this is only in rare situations where certain custom parts
chosen by our customers may not be readily available.
What warranty does
Epic IT provide on their computers?
Epic IT provide a 1 year return to base warranty on all their
computer systems. On top of that there are individual component
warranties depending on component and manufacturer etc. Also
an additional 1 to 2 year warranty may be bought at time of
purchase of new computer.
What is a computer
network?
Computer network can be physically wired (with cables) or
wireless (WI-FI Radio waves). A computer network allows your
computers to communicate with other computers attached to
the network. You can share files, music and internet plus
much more on a network.
What is a wireless
network?
A Wireless network is a network that does not use traditional
network cables such as CAT-5. It uses WI-FI radio signals
to communicate and transmit data across to other computers
and gateways etc . Wireless networks these days have a 100m
to 300m range depending on the building and are rapidly becoming

What is a AP (Access Point)?
An wireless access point acts like a traditional network
hub for all wireless devices on a network. It joins all the
devices such as computers, Printers and PDA's wirelessly and
controls certain aspects of the network such as traffic flow

Can i have wireless
in my home?
YES! Unless you live or work in a lead wall house, a wireless
network can be setup pretty much anyway effectively. The only
factors that may interfere with a wireless are other devices
that use similar frequencies such as Cordless phones. In that
case it might just require you to move the phone or wireless
access point to another room or location for less interference.
Is a Wireless
network secure?
YES! Wireless networks can be configured to be just as secure
as a wired network. All data transmission can be encrypted
with a 128bit encryption key allowing only known machines
to receive and decrypt this information.
